A man has died after the 27-ton crane he was driving, fell into a freezing river.
The man, who was aged 27, was declared dead about three hours after the accident which occurred at Mepal, Cambridgeshire. Firefighters fought to try and save the man but because of the location of the crane, the freezing conditions and the fact the man was trapped, they could not free him in time.
Police and health and safety inspectors are investigating the accident.
